Vorderflügel X–Y mm lang, braun;
Flügelaußenrand zweifach gekerbt; bei 2/6 und 4/5 jeweils eine weiße Querlinie, die dunkelbraun gesäumt ist; weiße Punktreihe entlang der Costa; Diskalfeld mit kleinem, schwarzem Nierenmakel; heller diagonaler Strich am Apex.
Ähnliche Arten: Diplopseustis perieresalis besitzt schwächer ausgeprägte Querlinien und trägt nur einen kleinen, unauffälligen dunklen Punktmakel im Diskalfeld.

Verbreitung
Die Art ist aus Florida (USA), Honduras, St. Vincent und Bermuda bekannt (Hampson 1899; Ferguson et al. 1991; Heppner 2003, Miller et al. 2012).
Lebensweise
Die Larven fressen an den Wurzelspitzen von Palmen (Arecaceae, z. B. Ölpalme (Elaeis), Kokospalme (Cocos nucifera)) (Genty & Mariau 1976; Mariau 2001). Falter können mit Ködern aus Bier, Banane und Molasse, in der Nähe der Larvennahrungspflanzen ausgebracht, angelockt werden (James E. Hayden, schriftl. Mitt. 2012).

Bestandssituation
2012 im Tropenhaus des Leipziger Zoos erstmalig in Europa nachgewiesen (Graf et al. 2014), aber nicht aus dem Freiland bekannt.
