Bestandssituation und wirtschaftliche Bedeutung

Die Larven von Timandra griseata fressen an Polygonaceae und wurden deshalb auf ihre Eignung zur biologischen Regulierung des aus Ostasien in die USA eingeschleppten Durchwachsenen Knöterichs (Persicaria perfoliata) getestet. Allerdings nutzten sie im Auswahlexperiment Buchweizenarten (Fagopyrum spp.) gleichermaßen und kommen deshalb nicht für eine Freisetzung in Nordamerika in Frage (Price et al. 2003; Ding et al. 2004).
